The modern hardtail cannot be overlooked if one plans to ride in the mountains. Power transfer, responsiveness, feedback and connection are all part of the hard tails heart and soul. The Hound’s are take on what makes hardtails great today. Peter came to me looking for a do anything Progressive mountain bike for East Coast riding. From trail riding to flowy berms to punch park. This build was such a fun process from geometry tweaks to the paint work to picking out all the steller components. Check out the video below for a full breakdown.

The Space Ice Cream paitn job came from a number of resources and influences. Peter wanted to incorporate earth tones and notes of colors found on the local trout that live in the waters up in the Catskills. We pulled pink and blue-gray-vanilla from those influences and Also incorporated the earth tones found in the base Rang Rover “gold” color used from past hound builds. After a few iterations we landed on this motif and dubbed it “Space Ice Cream” created by its blocky sections which reminded us of the Neapolitan ice cream found in the freeze dried packets of our child hood.

All in all this was a lovely build working with a local customer from the Catskills region of NY who had great ideas while letting me run with the build a bit and trusting the flow.

We finished off the frame with a set of iconic parts to help the bike float.
